Thoughts for '09

Wed Dec 17, 2008, 4:55 AM
My last journal entry was too depressing, so after over a year, I’ve decided to write something new. And what better subject than the new year? I don’t have anything in mind, so I’m just writing this on the fly. Hmm…where to start… Well, first, we’re having the transition to DTV. I still don’t know the importance of it, but whatever -- progress is usually a good thing. Oh, there’s also the process of changing from DVD to Blu-ray. Lol, it seems like DVDs just came out a few years ago. I bet there’s still a lot of people out there who don’t own a DVD player. You see, I wouldn’t mind getting a Blu-ray player if it didn’t require an HDTV. But you know, in a few years, I’m sure everyone will be able to afford one. Heck, I bet by the time my kids grow up, they won’t even know the meaning of “standard definition.”

It’s surprising that we’re nearing the end of this decade. It’s like, we’re already about to reach the 10’s, or the 2010’s, whatever they’re gonna call it.

What’s also surprising is that I was placed on this Earth two decades ago. When I think about it, depending on when I will die, my life could already be 1/4, 1/3, or maybe with the help of new medicine, 1/5 over. And yet, no thanks to all the time school consumed, I feel like my life is just starting. I guess it’s one of those half-empty, half-full conundrums. I could consider myself 20 years old, or twenty years young.

My main focus in life right now, of course, is college. Lol, my dad STILL thinks I’m going into the Medical field, when my personal dream career would be in English or Art. But most likely, I’m going to end up in Science or Technology.

We’ll just have to wait and see. 2008 flew by so fast, and yet 2007 seems like so long ago -- who knows where I’ll be a year from now. There’s not one thing that happened this year that I could’ve predicted last year. Heck, I can’t even predict what’s going to happen tomorrow.

On a completely unrelated note, despite probably watching twice as much anime this year than any one of my 4 years before it, I thought this year’s anime was pretty average. I liked Strike Witches, H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~, and Shigofumi -- actually most of my favorite shows of 2008 are the ones airing right now :giggle: -- but they seem almost insignificant to the Rozen Maiden: Träumend and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's that I saw last year. On the other hand, those latter two technically aren’t 2007 animes either, but that was just the year when I watched them. So basically, that’s like me saying Excel Saga was my favorite anime of 2004, when it originally aired 5 years earlier. =( Anyway, now I just made this paragraph sound totally irrelevant. :petting:

Oh well. I don’t expect to watch as much 2009 Winter anime as I’m watching right now in Fall 2008. At least, I hope not, because these 12 series have been keeping me VERY busy. And if you’re curious to know which 12 I’m watching, you can always click here. [link]

So, that’s all I have to say right now about 2009. I’m not going to get into resolutions, or family, or new movies coming out, because it’ll probably bore you, and I’m sure you’ve heard it a million times before. If not, then you’re probably going to be seeing lots of posts, comments, blogs, and discussions revolving around the topics stated above, within the next few days. So I will just leave things at that, and wish you all a Happy Holiday and a fun and safe New Year’s. :holly:

EDIT: 1/18/09

I wanted to add something to my journal, but didn’t feel like making a new entry, so I just decided to tack it on to the end of this one. As you can see, after over a year, I have returned to DA and probably in the most eccentric way possible, but that’s just my style... =P

I have been really surprised and elated with all the positive feedback I’ve been receiving. I’m doing this for you guys anyway, so I hope you enjoy it.

My New Year’s resolution for 2009, ironically enough, is to watch LESS anime. Now that anime is no longer my #1 priority, I have more time to do the hobbies I used to enjoy doing such as Photoshop, piano, and drawing (to name a few), which concurrently means more time will be spent on DA. After I’m done with this nude set (which will be my first and last), I will hopefully start uploading drawings again. Yes…DRAWINGS. REAL PAPER & PEN DRAWINGS (when was the last time I submitted one of those? :XD:).

So stay tuned, because this year I'm turning over a new leaf…in more ways than one.
